Design in Dialogue #48: Johan Schwind

August 7, 2020

Johan Schwind is an industrial designer, programmer, and futurist. His passion for connecting engineering and design to human-friendly technological solutions is at the heart of what he does on a daily basis as design director for Urban X, the groundbreaking BMW start-up incubator in New York City. Johan’s work is extremely hands-on, driven by a passion for intelligent invention, and includes everything from technical research to strategic partnerships to hand building robots for the nearly 60 cohorts he has helped launch over the past three years. In dialogue with Stephen Burks, the conversation was an overview of this young industrial designer’s past ten years of innovation at the cutting edge of the future’s digital horizon.
