“Can buildings heal?” was the fundamental question that led Michael Murphy to found the non-profit architectural practice MASS Design Group in 2008. Now a collaborative of over 140 architects, designers, planners, and strategists, with offices in Boston and Kigali, they define their mission as researching, building, and advocating for architecture that promotes justice and human dignity. Michael and managing director Christian Benimana spoke with Stephen Burks about how the studio develops and implements a shared vision that is simultaneously purposeful, hopeful, and healing.
