FOG DESIGN + ART 2026

January 21, 2026 - January 25, 2026

Festival Pavilion, San Francisco | Booth 301

Friedman Benda is excited to return to FOG Design+Art with a group of designers that reflects the gallery’s commitment to shaping the discourse at the intersection of design, craft, and contemporary art. Bringing together voices across generations, geographies, and disciplines, the presentation will debut works and studios for the first time in San Francisco.

Mexican designer Fernando Laposse presents two works that exemplify his extensive research in two key materials. With his Avocado Skin buffet, shown for the first time on the west coast, Laposse interrogates the complicated history of the avocado industry and its social and environmental ramifications. On the other hand, Patachin, more colloquially known as his “monster lamp”, is made with agave fibers and continues his exploration into the potential of this natural material.

Marking the debut of prominent American artist Adam Pendleton’s design work on the west coast, the gallery will present two sculptural forms and ceramic paintings from his first solo exhibition with the gallery.

Anchoring the booth is a masterwork by Wendell Castle. Blowin’ in the Wind, a stack-laminated desk, exemplifies the late American master’s sculptural vocabulary.

Other highlights include the Creek Chair 02 by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo and the recent Panel Lamp by acclaimed Italian studio Formafantasma, whose scenography design for the opening of Foundation Cartier’s new location in Paris was recently revealed.

Offering a compelling and fresh dialogue between emerging talent and established names, works by Andrea BranziEstúdio CampanaByung Hoon Choi, Misha Kahn, Christopher Le Brun, Raphael Navot, and Thaddeus Wolfe further this conversation, underscoring the diversity of practices and perspectives that define the gallery’s program.
