Paul Cocksedge Reimagines “Please Be Seated” for the Kew Gardens

April 28, 2021

Please Be Seated was initially a landmark commission designed by Paul Cocksedge in 2019 for London Design Festival and British Land, located in the busy thoroughfare of Finsbury Avenue Square. It’s designed as a rippling wave of wood that rises up to form arches for people to walk through, and curves under to create spaces for people to sit, lie, and relax. In 2021, Cocksedge reimagined this brilliant public installation for the Kew Gardens‘ summer exhibition. It is still made from recycled wood but this time encircles a patch of scented rock roses. The monumental and playful seating installation allows visitors to take in the beauty of the gardens from different perspectives.  The installation opened on May 1, 2021.
