Peludinho, a project to benefit Parque Campana, Brotas Brazil
Instituto Campana x Friedman Benda, 2024
About Parque Campana
The Instituto Campana, founded in 2009 by Fernando and Humberto Campana, recently inaugurated its most ambitious project: Parque Campana. Located in the city of Brotas, São Paulo, Brazil, where the brothers spent their childhood, the park aims to integrate art, education, and nature.
Conceived as a space for contemplation and learning, the park features eight of a total of twelve pavilions designed by the Campana Brothers, built with local materials, plants, and natural fibers, creating architecture in harmony with nature. Educational tours will enhance the immersive experience of the artwork’s concepts, and in a second phase, environmental education program, workshops on manual techniques, and artist residencies will be offered. There will also be a gallery showcasing a selection from the Campana Institute’s archive of over 6,000 pieces.
A pioneering scientific research project is also planned, focusing on restoring the landscape in the transition zone between the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado biomes. Pastures will be transformed into forests and diversified, ecologically balanced, and multifunctional agricultural systems.
“We learned to appreciate nature with our father who was an agricultural engineer. As a kid, I would plant trees, make treehouses and walk barefoot as I wanted to belong to an indigenous group. Fernando loved coming to the park and spend hours in the forest’s watchtower observing wildlife. This park is our way of sharing what we hold dearest in one place, an invitation to connect with the essence of our work, a celebration of life, valuing our roots and our planet,” says Humberto Campana.
About Peludinho
Peludinho is the latest addition to Instituto Campana’s product catalog. Designed and produced in 2024 by Estúdio Campana exclusively for Instituto Campana, these whimsical stools are made with only two materials, wood and sheepskin leftovers from one of the studio’s best-selling collection “Bolotas” with Friedman Benda. Peludinho is introduced as an open series of stools coming in two sizes. Color selection availability may vary, ranging from bright to muted colors.
All proceeds from the sale of this product will be directed to support the Institute’s effort to develop and implement the future stages of the Campana park.
