Paul Cocksedge Studio’s ongoing partnership with Swire Properties continues with a new permanent public art piece for Hong Kong’s Taikoo Park. Please Be Seated is designed as a space for the people of Hong Kong to sit, pause, and soak up the city’s greenery and architecture – all without disrupting the day-to-day flow of movement in the park. Constructed using sustainable timber, the piece is a purposeful contrast to the materiality of the surrounding buildings.
“We’ve been working with Swire Properties for the last four years, and this continuous collaboration has been vital to building a creative relationship that’s allowed us to be both courageous and experimental,” says Paul Cocksedge. “My first meeting with them was in Hong Kong in a building opposite Taikoo Park, so it’s fitting that Please Be Seated is now becoming a permanent fixture in the city. This is a piece that really comes alive when people interact with it, and I’m looking forward to seeing it become part of the public realm.”
